Privacy Policy

Short version: the text you type is converted and drawn inside your browser. It is never sent to us or stored on a server. We only use cookies for advertising measurement, and only if you accept them.

1. Who we are

Amharic ASCII Art ("the site", "we") is a free, browser-based tool that converts Amharic (Ge'ez) text into ASCII art. You can reach us at support@ascii.nahomships.tech.

2. Text and art you create

All transliteration and rendering happens locally with JavaScript and the HTML canvas API. The text you enter, the resulting ASCII art and your settings are processed in your browser's memory only. They are not transmitted to, or stored on, any server we operate. Nothing is saved between visits unless your browser restores the page from its own cache.

3. Information collected automatically

Our hosting provider may record standard server logs when a page is requested, including IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. These logs are used to keep the site available and secure, and are retained only as long as the provider's standard retention period.

4. Cookies and local storage

We use your browser's local storage for two things:

• Your cookie choice — so we do not ask again on every visit.
• Your theme preference — light or dark, so the page renders the way you left it.

These values stay on your device. Advertising cookies are only set after you accept them (see below).

5. Advertising and measurement

We advertise this tool through Google Ads. If you accept cookies, we load the Google Ads tag (gtag.js), which may set cookies to measure which ads and keywords led to a visit and to record actions such as copying or downloading art. This helps us understand which ads are useful.

If you decline, the tag is not loaded and no advertising cookies are set. Advertising is not shown on this site — we do not use AdSense or other display advertising.

Google processes this data under its own policies. See Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can manage or opt out of personalised advertising in Google My Ad Center.

Consent Mode v2 is enabled: advertising and analytics storage default to "denied" and are only updated to "granted" after you press Accept.

6. Third-party resources

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser makes a request to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, which receive your IP address as part of that request. The tool itself has no other third-party dependencies.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Because we do not store the content you create, most requests will concern advertising data held by Google, which you can control through the links above. You can clear the consent choice and theme stored on your device at any time through your browser's site-data settings.

8. Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

9. International transfers

Where advertising measurement is enabled, data may be processed by Google in countries outside your own, including the United States, under the safeguards described in Google's privacy documentation.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date at the top of this page will change too. Material changes will be announced on this page.
